The story of Leon unfolds in the historic previous location founded in 1524 near Managua Lake 495 years ago. The city was founded by Spanish conqueror Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba (for him our local currency) but due to different facts, it moved 30 miles distance in 1610. *a short guided walk into the public spaces of the largest Cathedral i Central America is included. We drive charming landscapes, past some of our city's finest colonial buildings, making our way enjoyable. Hear about 495 years and its evolution from colonial slavery to North American interventions, the Sandinista revolution, and more, exploring our art gallery, murals, and the largest Catedral in Central America declared a world heritage site in 2011. ITINERARY We start our tour from Corinto Port, (the main access route from Nicaragua to international markets) toward the Colonial city of Leon. On the way, we will see sugar cane and peanut fields, cattle ranches, and the highest volcano in Nicaragua "San Cristobal Volcano" beside charming landscapes. DRIVE** In Leon, let's see its churches of baroque and neoclassic styles. Let's explore highlights of historical buildings such as Nicaragua's first university, WALK** Art gallery museum Ortiz Gurdian, which features works by both national and international artists. Learn about the town's community dynamics through a visit to the bustling Central Park and Visit Leon Cathedral, a UNESCO site. DRIVE** On the way back to the port we will detour to San Jacinto Mud pods viewing the mud pits of different sizes, depths, and colors.
